As an entirely virtual museum, our impact is spread around the world. Primarily, we impact our visitors through providing a safe virtual space for education and discussion of girl culture in the past and present. We also manage social media channels and other projects dedicated to advancing girls’ rights today, sharing stories that celebrate girls and their contributions, and empower girls to become active in documenting, preserving, and sharing their history and culture. Finally, we provide an avenue for emerging scholars and activists to contribute to our cause while developing professional skills that will help them achieve their dreams and build a better world.
Our approach to remote working
Our programs include virtual exhibitions, community collaborations, podcasts, a blog, girls’ rights advocacy, educational guides and activities, and more. In the future, we plan to expand with a Girl Culture Archive, the first collaborative virtual archive dedicated to showcasing objects and artworks about and/or by young girls. We also produce pop-up events around the world, usually for exhibitions or advocacy. Girl Museum interns learn by doing. By helping us to carry out our programs, exhibits, and research, you will have an opportunity to make a real impact, develop personally and professionally, and learn from people who have worked in the museum field. We want to make sure you get the most out of your internship.
